Kefalonia, along with the other Ionian islands, is blessed with a moderate climate.
Winters are generally mild and wet with little or no frost, which accounts for the lush green vegetation. The island's mountains receive abundant rain with snow at the higher levels.
In April and May temperatures rise steadily with sharp showers dying out. By June rainfall drops dramatically and temperatures soar with July usually bringing no rain, at all.
By September rains are much more likely while temperatures still remain high. October rains are heavier and can continue throughout the winter months.
